Lewis Christie was the surprise of the Giants' pre-season training camp. He impressed coach Ed Courtenay enough to get a two-week trial with the big club. Although Lewis played last season in the Scottish League, he adapted well to the bmibaby Elite League and has stuck with the Giants ever since.
Originally signed on a two-way contract with the Fife Flyers, Christie has played every game this season with the Coors Belfast Giants. He is a hard working individual, both on and off the ice and keeps himself in tremendous shape.
Coach Ed Courtenay sees a great deal of potential in "the kid" as he is called by his teammates and plans on keeping him up with the Giants for the remainder of the season.
Courtenay said, "Lewis is only going to get better and is skilled enough to play either forward or defence. I like his work ethic and his attitude towards being part of the team. He will definitely be a solid player in this league in years to come."
The young Scotsman will likely play for the GB under 20's this season in the World Championships; he has already participated in their mid-season training camp In Sheffield in late October.
