George Awada returns for his fourth season as a Belfast Giant. The highly sought after forward didn't waste any time signing up for the 07-08 season, and along with Marc Dutiaume was one of the first players to make a commitment over the summer. George has proved himself over the last four years to be one of the most consistent players in the league, and a player any team would love to have on their roster. In a 170 games for the Giants, Awada has notched up an impressive 88 goals and 93 assists for 181 points, along with 294 penalty minutes. General manager, Todd Kelman remarked after the signing was announced, "George has been the hardest working guy on the ice nearly every game that I have played with him over the years and you know that you are going to get one of the league's best penalty killers, one of the most consistent players around and a guy that will probably score you thirty goals a year, not a bad combination."

Originally from Mendota heights in Minnesota, George stands at 6ft 2ins, weighs in at 210lbs and is a right shot winger. After a successful College career at St Clouds, George played a season with the Albany Rats, the top affiliate for the New Jersey Devils. He then spent three seasons in the East Coast Hockey League, averaging over 23 goals and 50 points a year with three different clubs before moving to Europe and the Elite League. In his inaugural season in the UK, he captained the Manchester Phoenix to the play-off finals in Nottingham. After 23 goals and impressing many with his silky skills and never say die attitude, George was chased by many of the Elite League top teams but it was the Giants that managed to win his signature after the news of Manchester's withdrawal from the professional league was announced. Since then George has won the league as Captain with the Giants and is something he's hoping to repeat this season.
