Mark 'Mo Train' Morrison returns for his fifth season with his hometown team. Morrison is as popular with his teammates as he is with the supporters that have made him into somewhat of a folk hero here in Belfast. Mark starred for the Irish National Team at the World Championships in Dundalk during the summer and continuing on after another successful season with the Coors Giants, one that saw him score 7 goals and add 5 assists for 12 points, his highest total of his professional career. At the world championships, he was selected as the tournaments top forward and Most Valuable Player. His work ethic and good-natured humor made him an easy selection as an assistant captain last season, the only local player to ever receive such an honor.
Mark played his entire minor hockey career in the Scottish National League with the Solway Sharks alongside his two brothers David and Willie before signing a professional contract with the Belfast Giants. Morrison was snapped up along with Chris McGimpsey, Graeme Walton and Gareth Martin after impressing then coach Rob Stewart at an open training session in 2003. Mark has got better and better in every game and his never say die attitude and non-stop hard work in each game helped him to the Nixx Giants Supporters Club 'Player of the Year' Award in his inaugural season. No other player on the Giants roster can compete with Mark's speed on the ice as he tirelessly harasses the opposition from one end of the rink to the other every time he takes to the ice.
