Adam was brought in to replace the departed Hugh Smyth as the back up netminder with the Coors Belfast Giants. Adam is only 17 years of age and this season he returned to Northern Ireland after a year in Scotland with the Solway Sharks Under 19's where he earned his team's "Player of the Year" Award.
Cree is a local product, born and raised right here in Northern Ireland and learned his trade as a goaltender training out of Dundonald Ice Bowl. He signed up this season to be a part of the Tesco Junior Giants Development Program but the departure of Smyth meant that he was called up to the big club for a trial period to fill the spot in the net.
Although this is a temporary signing, if Adam can make the adjustment required to adapt to the skill level of training with the Giants and the speed of the elite league, the youngster could stick with the team for the season.
He has looked good in training so far and will only get better as his fitness improves and the season progresses. The Coors Belfast Giants are pleased to be able to have a Junior Development Program that hopefully will produce the local talent that the Giants desire to have in their line-up over the next few years. Adam may be the first Junior Giant to be called up, but he won't be the last.
